| JESUS REMOVES THE STAIN | 죄의 얼룩을 지우시는 예수님 | |

[ Jeremiah 2:1 - 2:22 ] 1. The word of the LORD came to me: 2. "Go and proclaim in the hearing of Jerusalem: "`I remember the devotion of your youth, how as a bride you loved me and followed me through the desert, through a land not sown. 3. Israel was holy to the LORD, the firstfruits of his harvest; all who devoured her were held guilty, and disaster overtook them,'" declares the LORD. 4. Hear the word of the LORD, O house of Jacob, all you clans of the house of Israel. 5. This is what the LORD says: "What fault did your fathers find in me, that they strayed so far from me? They followed worthless idols and became worthless themselves. 21. I had planted you like a choice vine of sound and reliable stock. How then did you turn against me into a corrupt, wild vine? 22. Although you wash yourself with soda and use an abundance of soap, the stain of your guilt is still before me," declares the Sovereign LORD. |
[ 예레미야 2:1 - 2:22 ] 1. 여호와의 말씀이 내게 임하니라 이르시되 2. 가서 예루살렘의 귀에 외칠지니라 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시기를 내가 너를 위하여 네 청년 때의 인애와 네 신혼 때의 사랑을 기억하노니 곧 씨 뿌리지 못하는 땅, 그 광야에서 나를 따랐음이니라 3. 이스라엘은 여호와를 위한 성물 곧 그의 소산 중 첫 열매이니 그를 삼키는 자면 모두 벌을 받아 재앙이 그들에게 닥치리라 여호와의 말씀이니라 4. ○야곱의 집과 이스라엘의 집 모든 족속들아 여호와의 말씀을 들으라 5. 나 여호와가 이와 같이 말하노라 너희 조상들이 내게서 무슨 불의함을 보았기에 나를 멀리 하고 가서 헛된 것을 따라 헛되이 행하였느냐 21. 내가 너를 순전한 참 종자 곧 귀한 포도나무로 심었거늘 내게 대하여 이방 포도나무의 악한 가지가 됨은 어찌 됨이냐 22. 주 여호와의 말씀이니라 네가 잿물로 스스로 씻으며 네가 많은 비누를 쓸지라도 네 죄악이 내 앞에 그대로 있으리니 |

| “Are. You. Kidding?!” I yelled, digging through our dryer looking for my shirt. I found it. And . . . something else. My white shirt had an ink spot on it. In fact, it looked like a jaguar pelt: ink splotches coated everything. I clearly hadn’t checked my pockets, and a leaky pen had stained the entire load. Scripture often uses the word stain to describe sin. A stain permeates the fabric of something, ruining it. And that’s how God, speaking through the prophet Jeremiah, described sin, reminding His people that its stain was beyond their ability to cleanse: “Although you wash yourself with soap and use an abundance of cleansing powder, the stain of your guilt is still before me” (JEREMIAH 2:22). Thankfully, sin doesn’t get the last word. In Isaiah 1:18, we hear God’s promise that He can cleanse us from sin’s stain: “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.” I couldn’t get the ink stain out of my shirt. Neither can I undo the stain of my sin. Thankfully, God cleanses us in Christ, just as 1 John 1:9 promises: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” ADAM R. “이게 무슨 일이야?!” 나는 셔츠를 꺼내려고 빨래 건조기를 뒤지다가 소리쳤습니다. 셔츠는 찾았는데... 그게 다가 아니었습니다. 내 흰 셔츠에 잉크 자국이 있었던 것입니다. 사실, 셔츠 여기 저기에 잉크 얼룩이 있어 마치 표범 가죽처럼 보였습니다. 내가 주머니를 확인하지 않아 주머니에 있던 펜에서 잉크가 새어 나와 세탁물 전체를 더럽힌 것입니다. 성경은 죄를 묘사하기 위해 ‘얼룩’이라는 단어를 자주 사용합니다. 얼룩은 직물에 스며들어 그것을 망칩니다. 그래서 하나님은 예레미야 선지자를 통해 그의 백성들에게 죄로 말미암은 얼룩은 그들이 지울 수 없다는 것을 상기시키면서 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. “네가 잿물로 스스로 씻으며 네가 많은 비누를 쓸지라도 네 죄악이 내 앞에 그대로 있으리라”(예레미야 2:22). 감사하게도, 죄는 영원히 지워지지 않는 게 아닙니다. 우리는 이사야 1장 18절에서 하나님이 우리의 죄의 얼룩을 씻어 주실 거라는 그분의 약속을 봅니다. “너희의 죄가 주홍 같을지라도 눈과 같이 희어질 것이요 진홍 같이 붉을지라도 양털 같이 희게 되리라.” 나는 셔츠에 묻은 잉크 얼룩을 지울 수 없었고, 내 죄의 얼룩도 지울 수 없습니다. 하지만 감사하게도, 하나님은 요한1서 1장 9절의 약속대로 우리를 그리스도 안에서 깨끗하게 하십니다. “만일 우리가 우리 죄를 자백하면 그는 미쁘시고 의로우사 우리 죄를 사하시며 우리를 모든 불의에서 깨끗하게 하실 것이요.” |
